Central Line Infection

Dear Family and Friends,

Molly was admitted to 7 East last Tuesday night. She had been having fevers and diarrhea. It has been a very long (almost week) of dealing with being back inpatient and everything that is involved with this reality. 

As of this morning, her PICC line has been pulled and she is receiving blood products and antibiotics through 2 different peripheral lines in her arms. There were some tears shed in response to getting poked, but she got through it. After 2 different antibiotics and 5 days of the line still coming back positive, it was time to pull it. She still had a fever last night, but we are praying that this will be the last one! We are working on getting her a new PICC line placed in the coming days.

During this timeframe, her supplemental oxygen needs have also returned and her saturation is not good. We do not know if this is a side-effect of the infection, or if the disease is progressing. 

I would like to take a moment to thank all of the wonderful, thoughtful, and caring nurses on 7 East. You all mean so much to us and have made Molly's time here as pleasant and comfortable as possible. We are rooting for you all to get a better contract and completely support you! You deserve a contract that is at a minimum, reasonable and compensates you for all you do. 💕

I think that everyone has been touched in some way by a nurse in their own or a loved ones life - take a minute to say THANK YOU to a nurse near or dear to you. 

Please pray for Molly's recovery from the blood infection and that we can get her back home soon.

    This news stinks. I'm sorry that you all had to take a step back, but hopeful that this is a temporary setback while the hospital folks get the infection resolved and a fresh line in.

Peace and Love

Dear Family and Friends, Molly has been fighting hard for nearly 10 months and her body is now shutting down. I wanted to get a quick note out so that everyone knows what is happening. We are all home with her trying to make her last days as comfortable as possible. Last night, we got her on a pain pump which allows her to be way more in control of the pain meds. Hospice moved her to Dilaudid which will give her more room to go up if she needs it. She is very short on breath, very angry at times and doesn't want everyone to stand around her and cry. Just a couple of nights ago, she had the energy to be with Xander and play a video game - we couldn't believe it and we were so grateful to get this time with her. She has eaten lobster twice this week - she got that gene from Grandpa Howie 💖  Please pray for Molly to pass with peace and love in her heart and no pain in her body. Blessings to you all, Emilie
