Lungs
Dear Family and Friends,
We have had three days of going to clinic and some rest and relaxation at home afterwards. Molly's counts are holding mostly steady, with a slight increase in the absolute blast count to 3.5. This being said, her WBC count is 4.9! That is a pretty big jump and we would expect that the blasts would be higher. Her Absolute Neutrophil Count is 0.1 and that is great because it helps her fight the infection.
Per Molly's request, we are back in conversation with the Heme-Onc Docs at UofM to get Molly a referral to CAR-T cell therapy. There is a clinical trial that she could qualify for. There is a delicate balance of drugs, timing, and of course, hyperbarics to consider here. The regimen of the Isavuconazole and Hyperbarics are actually documented as a therapy known to work to treat the Aspergillosis fungal infection (Hyperbaric Medicine Practice, 4th Edition)! This is amazing!
We are continuing to take everything day by day. Thankfully, she seems to be getting slightly better each day in the pneumonia department, however, the blasts are obviously problematic. When she was kicked out of the hospital and put on hospice, they considered her as having "Acute Respiratory Failure" - this is obviously not the same kid as last week. She continues to walk to clinic and is getting back to being a bit self-sufficient at home. 💕
One of Molly's goals is to make it to Tuesday, so that she can get Zingerman's Bialy's from the bakehouse. They have been ordered and her trajectory looks good!
We are so grateful for your support, assistance in so many ways and your prayers. Molly continues the hard fight and is putting all of her energy into getting better.
Today she had her first acupuncture treatment since getting out and she has had a good amount of energy this evening afterward. She continues on the turkey tail mushrooms and Chinese medicine for liver.
Sending love and light,
Emilie
